I can’t believe how time is flying this year! It’s Autumn already!

So things have quietened down a little now that the funeral is over and done with. It really was a lovely service. We arrived early as we had a private viewing organized and when we came out there were a lot more people that we had ever imagined. We thought we would be safe printing 60 service booklets but they went very quickly! It was sad, hubby spoke really well, and the kids, surprisingly, had a good cry. We got beautiful flowers and apart from the obvious sad occasion we really had a great day catching up with family.

Well things ended up not so great with hubby’s mum. On Saturday the 11th of February the family decided to discontinue treatment and her feeding tube was removed. We are not sure but we think she may have had more strokes because when it first happened she was able to talk a little bit but not at all later on. She died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Tuesday the 21st of February and the funeral will be held on Monday afternoon.

So I thought I would pop in and give a little update on how things are going, with everything!

Hubby’s mum is still in the hospital, it doesn’t look like she will be home anytime soon. The doctors confirmed it had been a stroke, a bleed (as opposed to a clot) but to 25% of her brain. The bleed seemed to stop by the day after but even now the blood that was released has not dissipated like they were hoping. It will be two weeks tomorrow since it happened and she still has no movement down the left side, is still being fed by a nasal tube and has barely had a lucid day since. I feel sorry for hubby, she has not progressed how they would have liked by now and they are already taking about where she will go after leaving hospital, that she won’t be going home but to a some sort of aged care, the level of care depending on how she progresses.
